Congratulations to Anthony McGuinness for his winning entry in the Patrick
Kavanagh Schools' Poetry Award. A copy of the winning entry is

Heaven's Fruit
A streak of lightening,
Pearls that mapped the roads outside.
Tumbling down the glass following carved trails,
Such a short existence, so frightening.
Twenty seconds is all it takes from start to finish,
The victor takes his spoils.
My window, a racetrack, marks split apart.
The sky wept as I stared from inside.
When the tears subsided,
Phoebus emerged from the grey, casting colours left and right.
Streaks of blue and red bent in an arch.
Kaleidoscopic hues, veins of spectrum flowing in the air.
God's masterpieces, without each other they would not be,
Beautiful, like all of God's mysteries.
