Omeath & Cooley Active Retirement Group welcomed the women from Altnaveigh Womens Group, Newry on Thursday 26th May 2005

The ladies met in the Domen Centre Omeath and watched a presentation given by Fr. B King on the History of Omeath.  Members of the Omeath Historical Society were on hand to answer any questions.

After the presentation a pleasant hour was spent chatting and making friends and viewing the interior of St. Lawrences Church, which was even more enhanced by the Holy Communion displays made by the children of the two schools.

The sun shone and allowed for pleasant stroll through the grounds.

At 1 o'clock everyone made their way to the Park Country House Hotel (formerly Omeath Park Hotel) and were made very welcome by the staff and all enjoyed a hearty meal in the main dining room.

A very pleasant day was had and many new friendships made and the Altnaveigh Ladies are looking forward to returning in September.

The Active Retirement Group enjoyed hosting this event which is part of an ongoing reciprocal cross border initiative.
